Go Orange!

Today is the ASPCA's Go Orange Day in conjunction with their month long emphasis on prevention of cruelty to animals.

In honor of Go Orange Day, all the cats had a photo session. This is Violet in one of the neckties I offer in my Etsy shop. Doesn't it appear that Violet is the purrfect model, and this picture only took a minute to capture? Think again.

This is Samoa - the diva of our house. She would pose for photos all day long. That is why she is the diva!

Cruelty to animals is one of my biggest pet peeves. I've owned animals that were previously owned by terrible people. I will never understand why an animal is abused. All they want to do is give you love and companionship. They ask for so little in return, and the least we can do is treat them with the respect and dignity they deserve.

Cruelty can be something as simple as leaving a dog on a chain in a backyard. I see this everyday when I drive down one of our nearby roads. The people have a fenced in yard, and yet the dog is on a chain. I'd love to put that owner on a chain in a yard, and let them see how it feels.

So, take the pledge to fight animal cruelty. You can do that on the ASPCA's website! Make a promise to yourself to set an example for others by never abusing an animal!

The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated. ~ Mahatma Gandhi

Circle Circle Dot Dot

I added this cute fabric flower pin to my Etsy shop today!

It is stinkin' adorable with a sparkly pink cotton fabric as the bottom layer, and a chocolate brown dotted cotton for the top layer. A lime green fabric yo-yo and a coordinating covered button hold it all together!

I like coming up with clever names for the items in my shop. I was having trouble deciding on something for this flower pin, so I did a little Googling to spark an idea. I had never heard the term Circle Circle Dot Dot before, but it comes from a children's playground song that goes:

Circle, circle.
Dot, dot.
Now you got your cootie shot

Have you ever heard that one before?

Zorro!

You never know what kind of stray cat will come wandering onto my front porch! Stray Cat #4 from my Etsy shop appears to be a mild mannered tabby.

However, when the sun goes down, he turns into Zorro - protector of the neighborhood! With his mask and cape, he will defend the property and protect us from invading herds of mice!

You didn't know mice traveled in herds, did you? Zorro was adopted by Pansy. She said to be on the lookout for a masked superhero. Luckily for her, one came by just in the nick of time!

Ring-a-Ding Duo!

It's a good thing that Ring-a-Dings come three to a set because you can tell by looking at the duo of Timo and his sister, Mietzi, that there was an argument over who was getting the blue and white ring-a-ding!

Mietzi decided the purple one was her favorite, and she loved the catnip pillow too!

Timo claimed the green ring-a-ding as his!

I guess they'll have to take turns with the blue and white one!

100th Sale!

I had my 100th sale last week in my Etsy shop! Handsome Teebo bought his carrot Easter tie. Doesn't he look smashing?

I sent him some bonus toys, and a box of Girl Scout cookies which he shared with his Mom and Dad! This is his sister, Callie. She is exhausted after playing with the big, fat rat!

Callie has decided the rat is her pal, and she plans to chillax with him every day! Thanks to all the customers who have visited and purchased from my shop. I appreciate each one of you!

Stray Cat #2 In Her Forever Home!

Three stray cats showed up in my Etsy shop. Stray Cat #2 was adopted by Pansy, who named her Phloxie. Phloxie was a gift from Pansy to her best friend, Boogers! Boogers can't believe another cat has come to live in his house!

Boogers better watch out because Phloxie will be reporting back to Pansy!

Stray Cat #1, and Stray Cat #3 are still looking for their forever homes!

Hickory Heights Softie

Another stray cat wandered into the yard this morning. This one is just a kitten at 7 1/2" tall, but so adorable and colorful!

Lots of detail, and keeps himself well groomed with that big, fluffy white tail!

Poor little kitty needs a home! Stop by here if you're interested.

Touffee the Tail Puller!

I think Touffee is my next toy tester! Look at her go after that rat's tail! Can you hear that poor rat squealing?

Isn't Touffee a beauty? She reminds me of a female Newman!

Love the Earth!

Making items for my Etsy shop reminds me when I worked at Garden Ridge. I never liked seeing all the Christmas stuff in October. But, in order to give cats enough time to purchase an item and possibly get photographed for their Catster page in time for the occasion, you have to offer items at least a month early.

Next month we will be celebrating Earth Day, and I have two Earth Day ties available in the shop!

Flying Off the Shelves!

My cats love to play with milk rings! I decided to create a toy I'm calling the Ring-a-Ding using the plastic rings that come off milk and orange juice containers.

The first few were created using fleece, but then a friend suggested crocheting around them with yarn! I liked that idea even better because there are so many fun yarns out there!

The Ring-a-Ding trio of toys went in the shop yesterday, and they are one hot, hot item!

Newman was my toy tester for the revised design. He said it was softer on his mouth than the prickly edged plain 'ole boring plastic, and he gave it a five paw rating!

Sold out in two days! I have friends saving me milk rings cause a gal can only drink so much milk and orange juice in a day!

Stray Cat!

Would you look at what showed up on my front porch this morning! There are too many strays wandering around in the woods, and this colorful one needs a new home!

He promises to not eat anything, and will keep you company at work, or will catsit the others for you while you're gone!

Stop by my Etsy shop to read more about Stray Cat #1!

Celebrating a Birthday in Style!

Tomorrow, Snowmitts celebrates his 3rd birthday! His pals, Boogers, Hondo, Fido, Tiskers, Mittens, and Porkchop (aren't those cool names?) sent him a St. Paddy's tie from The Cat in the Clover for his special day!

Doesn't he wear it well? How handsome - he looks just like his birthday card!

The Cat in the Clover is happy to ship birthday presents to your friends. We'll include a birthday card with your personal message inside!

Happy St. Patrick's Day birthday, Snowmitts - have a pawsome celebration!
