Cats, Cats, and More Cats!

Somebody had the ridiculous idea that today should be A Day Without Cats! So, they deemed 9/9/09 as a day of cat-free web surfing! Being part of the wonderful community of Catster for over three years, I am disappointed that The Cat's Meow Blog would participate in a day of cat-free anything!

So, in complete contrast to that crazy idea, I have declared The Cat in the Clover as a day of cat cuteness . . . . . . . because with all the bad stuff in the world, you can never have enough cuteness to brighten your life!

CATS RULE!

Little Black Kitty Update!

Little black kitty is a girl! After taking her to the vet and shaving her belly, the spay scar was discovered! I'm happy that she will not be bringing more kittens into this world.

The vet estimated her age to be around 1 or 2. She got all her shots and a dewormer too. She was so good in the carrier, and didn't cry in the car - wish all of mine were that good in the car!

I've given her a name - mainly so I don't have to call her little black kitty anymore! Her eyes are a beautiful shade of green, and after finding out that Vivien Leigh had green eyes and loved cats, I'm calling her Vivien! My Mom loved Gone With the Wind, so I'm sure she would approve!

Now, Vivien needs a home before winter gets here! She is very sweet, loves to sit on laps, and would make a wonderful pet. If you are in the Louisville, Kentucky, area, please tell your friends about her!

The Invisible Sign

We have a sign in our yard only visible to stray cats. It says:

Show up, look skinny, act hungry, be friendly.
You'll find a home!

This is the newest front porch visitor. I'm calling her Little Black Kitty. She is going to the vet today to determine if she is a he or he is a she! I want to make sure that if he is a she, there are no more kittens brought into this world - there are enough already!

The kitty doesn't have a name because we all know if you give the cat a name, he is yours to keep. I've already acquired six that way, and unfortunately, I can't take on a 7th.

If you are in the Louisville area, and would love a friendly, lap cat that needs to be an inside kitty, please contact me!

I Vant To Suck Your Blood!

I got a very unusual request a week or so ago for one of the stray cats I make for my Etsy shop. The lady is a good customer of mine, and she has a cat-loving daughter who is going to college. Her daughter is a huge fan of the Twilight series of books. She requested a cat that incorporated the daughter's favorite character - Edward Cullen.

How in the world was I going to make a vampire inspired cat that resembled a hunk in the movies? Here is what I designed!

It just happened that this is Stray Cat #13! He resembles Edward in his slender body and pale fur that glistens in the sunlight. He has bronze hair, and his topaz eyes are starting to turn dark which happens when he consumes blood! He has high cheekbones and a crooked smile, and proudly wears his family's crest around his neck.

He sits on a base that incoporates the covers from all four books:

Apple from Twilight
Ruffled tulip from New Moon
Broken red ribbon from Eclipse
Chessboard from Breaking Dawn

Her daughter will have nothing to fear with this kitty around!

World Cat Day!

Today is World Cat Day! My cats think every day is World Cat day, but apparently today is the day!

My cats are the lucky ones. There are so many that need adoption, so many strays, so many feral cats. Please be a responsible pet owner, and have your cats (and dogs) spayed or neutered.

If you have a cat, hug him today and be thankful that you share your life with one of these magnificent creatures!

If you don't have a cat, what are you waiting for?

Premio Meme Award!

Thanks to Jill at Just Me Jill for the Premio Meme Award. The rules of the award are to share seven facts about myself and then pass the award to seven others.

So, I thought I'd share seven facts about The Cat in the Clover!

1. The Cat in the Clover was named after my kitty Violet. Before Violet became an indoor cat, he loved following me around in the yard while I worked. We have a lot of clover at the back of our property, and one day while he was out with me, the name popped into my head.

2. The Cat in the Clover evolved into an Etsy shop. It has had previous lives: Princess Birthday Parties, and DVD slideshows set to music.

3. It is very rewarding to see a customer snoozing on one of my beds or in a snooze sack.

4. I wish there were more hours in the day to spend on creating items for the shop.

5. The furry supervisors in the house love helping with the creations!

6. It is hard to resist any fabric with cats on it!

7. Our Catster friends have been so supportive, and we love all of them!

I'll pass the award on to the cat blogs I love:

1. Beaded Tail

2. 365 Cat Ladies

3. Jake & Micah - Adventures in Catnip

4. All About Cats

5. Alley Cat Rescue

6. Jeter Harris

7. Purr Prints

Happy 4th of July!

Hoping your 4th of July holiday is full of fun and doesn't involve crazy hats, boas, or sinks (although Newman looks super cute in any of these)!
