Go Orange!

Today is the ASPCA's Go Orange Day in conjunction with their month long emphasis on prevention of cruelty to animals.

In honor of Go Orange Day, all the cats had a photo session. This is Violet in one of the neckties I offer in my Etsy shop. Doesn't it appear that Violet is the purrfect model, and this picture only took a minute to capture? Think again.

This is Samoa - the diva of our house. She would pose for photos all day long. That is why she is the diva!

Cruelty to animals is one of my biggest pet peeves. I've owned animals that were previously owned by terrible people. I will never understand why an animal is abused. All they want to do is give you love and companionship. They ask for so little in return, and the least we can do is treat them with the respect and dignity they deserve.

Cruelty can be something as simple as leaving a dog on a chain in a backyard. I see this everyday when I drive down one of our nearby roads. The people have a fenced in yard, and yet the dog is on a chain. I'd love to put that owner on a chain in a yard, and let them see how it feels.

So, take the pledge to fight animal cruelty. You can do that on the ASPCA's website! Make a promise to yourself to set an example for others by never abusing an animal!

The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated. ~ Mahatma Gandhi

Hey Laura,

Thanks for stopping by. I didn't know about the "go orange" and will post something about it as well. I, too, despise cruelty to animals and other innocents. I know far too much about the dark side of humans.

Thanks for the great post!

I really enjoyed seeing the pics of your sweet kitties. We have three and one was rescued as a kitten from the side of the road. We love them all.

I just love all your kitties! In fact, I love all kitties. Your blogs are beautiful and bright and happy and they make me want to stay a while. Enjoyed my visit so much and I am looking forward to getting to know you. Too bad I am so far away from you because I am always willing to take a kitty in.
