Premio Meme Award!

Thanks to Jill at Just Me Jill for the Premio Meme Award. The rules of the award are to share seven facts about myself and then pass the award to seven others.

So, I thought I'd share seven facts about The Cat in the Clover!

1. The Cat in the Clover was named after my kitty Violet. Before Violet became an indoor cat, he loved following me around in the yard while I worked. We have a lot of clover at the back of our property, and one day while he was out with me, the name popped into my head.

2. The Cat in the Clover evolved into an Etsy shop. It has had previous lives: Princess Birthday Parties, and DVD slideshows set to music.

3. It is very rewarding to see a customer snoozing on one of my beds or in a snooze sack.

4. I wish there were more hours in the day to spend on creating items for the shop.

5. The furry supervisors in the house love helping with the creations!

6. It is hard to resist any fabric with cats on it!

7. Our Catster friends have been so supportive, and we love all of them!

I'll pass the award on to the cat blogs I love:

1. Beaded Tail

2. 365 Cat Ladies

3. Jake & Micah - Adventures in Catnip

4. All About Cats

5. Alley Cat Rescue

6. Jeter Harris

7. Purr Prints

Happy 4th of July!

Hoping your 4th of July holiday is full of fun and doesn't involve crazy hats, boas, or sinks (although Newman looks super cute in any of these)!

Charles de Dog!

While I was playing with the kitties at Best Friends last week, Ted went to Headquarters over at Dogtown. He said they had more volunteers than they really needed. Most of the volunteers want to walk the dogs, but in the afternoon they try to avoid it because of the heat.

The guy in charge kept asking if anyone would like to take a dog on an outing into town. When no one volunteered, Ted said he would do that, but we had a rental car. No problem - they brought him a blanket for the backseat, a portable water bowl, some treats, and Charles de Dog!

Charles was a really good boy and loved riding in the car. They got out several times and took a walk. He was good on the leash too. Charles is 12 years old, and isn't fond of other dogs, but he is great around people.

I hope someday soon Charles de Dog can know the love of a forever home!

Best Friends Visit

Ted and I had the most wonderful week in Utah. We stayed in Snowbird at a beautiful ski resort right against the mountains - which still had snow on them! We had a rental car and took several day trips around various parts of Utah.

The highlight of my vacation was a trip to Best Friends Animal Society in Kanab, Utah. They have been my charity of choice for several years, and I was so excited to visit their wonderful facility which is home for over 2,000 animals - dogs, cats, horses, pigs, birds, rabbits, and other wildlife. This no-kill shelter has a 75% adoption rate.

We took a morning tour, and then volunteered in the afternoon. I went to one of the cat buildings to socialize with the kitties, while Ted took Charles de Dog on an outing in town. It was an experience I will never forget, and I hope to visit again someday.

Before our volunteer session started, we stopped by Angel's Rest. It is the Best Friends' cemetery, and it was quite a moving experience.

I hope you enjoy the slideshow, and if you're ever in Utah, you have to visit the sanctuary - you won't be disappointed!

Back From Vacation!

We got back last night from a relaxing vacation week in Utah - what a gorgeous place! As you can see, Newman wanted to go with us. He was super glad to see us come home, and we were happy to see their sweet faces!

I have lots of fun pictures to show from our visit to Best Friends Animal Society. What a great place for the 1,000+ animals who live there. It was the highlight of my vacation!

International Box Day!

I'm sure all the cats out there knew that today is International Box Day! Here is Newman in his younger days - about eight months ago - enjoying a shoe box! He would not fit so easily today!

The Cat in the Clover is going on vacation for a week starting tomorrow! The Etsy Shop is still open, but items won't get shipped until I return on the 28th!

Happy Dad's Day on Sunday! Enjoy the weekend with your Dad - I'll sure be missing mine!

Kissy Kiss!

Newman loves his Mawmee! He calls me the MRS. which stands for Mawmee, Rescuer, Suckee - because my arm is his favorite thing to suck on! He was taken away from his fur Mommy way too soon, and therefore, he wasn't weaned properly.

I've taught him that when I say, Kissy Kiss, he touches his mouth to mine! I was getting a birthday kiss from him last night!

He can be a real stinker at times, but he is so stinkin' adorable that he is forgiven very quickly!
