Blooming Beautiful!

My Catster friends . . . . . . . they are like the sisters I never had . . . . . . . like a family. They have shown me so much love and shared my tears over losing Calvin. And they've sent flowers. They know me. I love flowers, who doesn't?

Three beautiful roses from Amy and her sweet cats, Kittanna, Taillee, Zilla, Lilly, and Gaia Rose. She wrote on the card: A red for Calvin's passon for life, a pink for his love of family, and a yellow for all the friendship he inspired.

An orange explosion of tulips and gerber daisys from Sue Lyn and her precious Ele', Gimme, and Ambrogino. Orange, vibrant, and so beautiful!

The entire Catster community has been so supportive and caring through their rosettes, special gifts, pmails, cards, advice, and gifts. I love you all for loving Calvin. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!

Calvin Collar Models!

The special Calvin Collars are flying out of my Etsy shop! I have a few more to add later today, but as our Catster friends model their Calvin Collars, I'll be adding them to the blog!

This is Ollie Popoki, or as Calvin liked to call her, Olivia Pickles. She looks so beautiful!

And look at the dashing Oliver in his sparkly black and gold Calvin Collar. Could he get any cuter? I don't think so!

And the always handsome Diego makes me swoon in his collar of blues and greens!

Thank you for being pawsome models!

Thank You Catster!

Thank you to Karen at The Cat's Meow, the Catster blog, for the beautiful tribute to Calvin.

The Catster community is like a family - caring, wonderful friends who have a shared passion for their beloved pets. They truly loved Calvin, and the outpouring of sympathy from his many friends has been overwhelming and comforting. I treasure their friendships.

Rest in Peace

Our precious, sweet Calvin made his journey to the Rainbow Bridge today after a month long battle with stomach cancer. He was such a brave boy during his weekly vet visits. Even his vet cried today. He was the heart of this family, and we will not be the same without him in our lives.

Ted and I were both with him when he peacefully made the journey. We will love you forever, Calvin!

Calvin Collars

I have added a new line of special floof collars to my Etsy shop. They are called Calvin Collars, and the idea came about as a way to honor my special 18 year old boy who is battling cancer. He has so many supportive pals on Catster, and these Calvin Collars are flying out of the shop.

This is one of his pals, Emily Felicity, modeling her Limesicle Calvin Collar. Each Calvin Collar has a special cat button or charm on it. They are crocheted from the softest yarn and fit comfortably on any neck size!

One dollar from each Calvin Collar is being set aside, and when $25 is collected, a cat will be sponsored at Best Friends Animal Society. Thanks to all of Calvin's pals who have purchased a collar. I'll be featuring them on the blog as I get pictures.

Calvin Update

Thanks to those of you who have asked about Calvin. He is one tough old kitty! We decided to discontinue the chemo as it knocks him for a loop and he doesn't want to eat. It also made him anemic. He got about 3 chemo treatments, and hopefully it is keeping the cancer from spreading too quickly.

He is currently visiting his vet every week - to have his blood checked. I give him shots every other day to help with the anemia. His red blood cell count is climbing back to normal, so those shots are helping! His white blood cell count is perfect, so his infection is gone.

The big task we have is getting him to eat. He has dropped some weight - down to 7 lbs. 6 oz. He acts very interested in eating, but then only takes a few bites, so every hour I am tempting him with wet and dry food. We also give him sub Q fluids every night. He is the best, and I love him so much!

The weekly vet visits have made his car riding a little easier - he doesn't howl and cry those terrible noises, and luckily, our vet's office is about 5 minutes away. The little kitty in the cage below was in the vet's office this past week. They always have kittens available for adoption. This Calvin mini-me kept staring at Calvin. I'm sure he hopes to one day grow up and be as handsome a mancat as Calvin!

Thanks for your purrs - keep 'em coming!
